Device Usage Policy

Last Updated: 26 May 2026

SchoolVerse is built for personalised, continuous learning. To protect your progress, XP achievements, AI mentor recommendations, and paid course access, each account is linked to one primary device at a time. This policy explains how device linking works and what to do if you need to change devices.

1. One Primary Device by Default

When you sign in to SchoolVerse for the first time on a device, that device becomes your primary learning device. You can continue using SchoolVerse on that device without any restrictions. This applies to the Android app, the Progressive Web App (PWA), and the mobile browser version equally.

Signing in from a second device is permitted on an occasional basis (for example, switching between your phone and a tablet briefly). However, repeated or frequent device switching — particularly accessing your account from more than 3 distinct devices within any rolling 30-day period — will trigger an automated account review.

2. Why We Link Your Account to One Device

The one-device policy exists for your protection and the integrity of the platform:

  • Learning Progress: Your lesson history, XP, streaks, and Sage AI recommendations are built from your personal learning pattern on a single device. Fragmented sessions across many devices degrade the quality of personalisation.
  • XP Fairness: XP is awarded for genuine learning effort. Device sharing or account sharing can inflate XP unfairly against other learners.
  • Paid Access Security: Courses and subscriptions you purchase are for your personal use only. The device policy prevents unauthorised sharing of paid content.
  • AI Mentor Accuracy: Saphala Sage builds your learning signal from consistent engagement data. Cross-device fragmentation produces inaccurate cognition signals and worse recommendations.

3. Device Reset Request Process

If you have replaced your primary device (for example, you have a new phone), you can request a device reset. Here is how:

  1. Email support@schoolverse.app from your registered email address with the subject line: "Device Reset Request — [Your Name]".
  2. Include: your registered email address, the reason for the reset (new phone, lost device, etc.), and confirmation that you no longer have access to the old device.
  3. Our team will review and process the request within 3 business days.
  4. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation email. Sign in fresh on your new device, and it will become your new primary device.

School learners may ask their school administrator to submit a reset request on their behalf through the SchoolVerse Admin panel. This is faster and does not require an email to support.

4. Admin-Approved Multi-Device Exception

In some cases, a learner may legitimately need to use SchoolVerse on more than one device — for example, a student who uses a phone at home and a tablet provided by their school. School administrators can approve a multi-device exception for specific learners from the Admin panel under Student Settings → Device Policy. Once approved, that learner will not be flagged for multi-device access.

B2C individual learners who require a multi-device exception should contact support@schoolverse.app with a written explanation. Exceptions are granted at SchoolVerse's sole discretion.

5. Suspicious Device Switching Restrictions

If our system detects patterns consistent with account sharing, credential selling, or abusive device switching, the following actions may be taken:

  • Automated temporary lock: Access from the suspicious device is paused until identity is re-verified via email OTP.
  • Account review: Our trust and safety team may review account activity and contact you for verification.
  • XP forfeiture: XP earned during the flagged period may be voided.
  • Account suspension: Repeat or severe violations will result in account suspension in line with our Terms & Conditions.

We understand technical issues can cause unexpected device signals (for example, a factory reset or OS upgrade may change device identifiers). If you believe a flag was triggered in error, contact support@schoolverse.app and we will investigate within 3 business days.

6. Scope: Web, PWA, and Android

This policy applies to all access methods:

  • Android App: Device identity is tracked via the Android device identifier.
  • PWA (Progressive Web App): Device identity is tracked via browser fingerprinting and session tokens stored in the browser's secure storage.
  • Mobile Browser: Treated the same as PWA. Clearing browser data and re-logging in on the same device does not count as a new device in most cases.
  • Desktop/Laptop: Allowed for account management and content browsing. Primary device policy applies to mobile learning sessions.
